The Morning Offerings.
The morning offering is a spiritual part of any traditional Thai Buddhist wedding ceremony.
It is traditional for the couple to prepare the food for the monks offering which should be given in the morning of the wedding day.
It is presented to the monk normally 9 monks in the early morning while the monks do their daily begging, which starts at the time the monk can see the lines in his palms by the breaking light of dawn. One must stand on the street and offer food and floral offerings to the monk and monks will often make a blessing by chanting in Pali to the god for your both to have a long and good life.
The morning start before first light and you are taken to the local morning market where you will choose different local delicacies to be given to the monks and collect the floral offerings that you will prepare in proper manner to be offered on the street in from of "jit's' shop house (Canna Cards) on the silversmith road. You will normally travel from the market by Samlour to Jit's where she will instruct you on the finer details of the preparation and presentation of your offerings.
Then it is on to the street where you will make the offers, this can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours depending on the day.
Even if you are not a morning person, it is well worth the effort to get up before sunrise, to partake this spiritual experience. Many couples who begrudgingly got up claim it was one of the best experiences and are truly glad they did.
I do not know how one can say they have had a traditional Thai wedding without making the morning offerings. If you do not want to make the offering we will have it done on your behalf, but you will be missing out on one of the unique joys that Thailand has to offer a couple on their wedding day. .. life is such a rich tapestry why not truly enjoy all you can.
